The JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort is host to two of Southwestern Florida’s most acclaimed golf courses, The Rookery and Hammock Bay.
The Rookery course was recently redesigned by acclaimed golf course designers Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, The Rookery at Marco blends a challenging resort private course with serene, natural surroundings. Appropriately named The Rookery, meaning bird sanctuary, the golf course is nestled in shallow wetlands that attract many species of birds. Striking in beauty and challenge, the surrounding lakes and ponds are home to abundant wildlife, including bald eagles, alligators, blue herons and many other types of water birds.
The Hammock Bay course, designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, is a par 72 Championship golf course with 18 individual and distinct holes. Live oak tree-lined fairways and rolling terrain define the course. Undulating terrain and the Gulf of Mexico breezes all combine to make Hammock Bay a challenge that’s becoming a favorite of our returning guests.The contours, shape and orientation of the course greens were designed with the approach shot in mind.
